Not to worry… thanks to Friends member and volunteer photographer Jerry Callaghan, you can experience the April Battle Road living history event through his pictures! In addition, he was also on hand to take photographs of the ever-popular Battle Road Heroes program presented by the Guild of Historic Interpreters the following weekend.
Do you have photos to share? Send us an email at info@friendsofminuteman.org… or ask about our new group on Flickr. You can upload photos to share that you’ve taken while at Minute Man National Historical Park!
Kudos go out to our ten Bucket Brigade team members (plus Rosie the dog) for being friendly faces at the 2010 Battle Road event at Minute Man National Historical Park today! They braved the chilly weather and intermittent drizzle to talk with visitors, hand out membership information, collect donations and reward donors with stickers!
Thank you to Adrienne Beaver for taking our photo!
I’m thrilled to report that the Bucket Brigade raised just over $600 in donations, plus we received two new memberships at the event. In addition, the bucket brigade team members handed out over 400 stickers and nearly that many membership discount cards. That’s a lot more people who are now familiar with the Friends and if you were one of the many visitors that helped the Friends today, thank you!
It was wonderful to connect with so many visitors to the park, many of whom were local and very enthusiastic despite the inclement weather. The Friends website (www.friendsofminuteman.org/br2010) will feature the Battle Road 2010 discount membership promotion through next weekend and we look forward to welcoming many new Friends to our community!

Thank you also to photographers, Jerry Callaghan, Julliette Carignan, and Park Ranger Monica Squires, who also took many incredible photographs. We’ll continue to feature additional pictures and slideshows throughout the summer!
And if you missed this incredible living history event, don’t worry, there is another one just around the corner!Minute Man National Historical Park is pleased to host HM 40th Regiment of Foot on Saturday, August 28th and Sunday, August 29th.
How did the British Army really function and fight during the American Revolution? Did they take the lessons of Lexington and Concord to heart? Visit Hartwell Tavern, temporarily established this weekend as the headquarters of the 40th Reg’t of Foot, a Revolutionary War period British Army reenactment unit, and learn about tactics, weapons, camp life, and armies on the march. Walking the trail, you may be surprized by a roving patrol, so please exercise due caution!

Today the crowds were flocking to Hartwell Tavern to see the many reenactors taking part in the living history event “Now We Are One: George Washington and the Birth of the Continental Army.” The weather was perfect and the visitors were treated to a full day of activities and scenarios, ranging from laundry, trying to pass the sentries, issuing rations, meeting the General, and even an afternoon court martial! Young guests were given the opportunity to track down the missing information to a scavenger hunt, and thanks to the generous donation of two child-size bounty coats by Board Member Bill Rose, the Friends of Minute Man National Park were offering the clothing as part of a raffle.

Have you ever wanted to meet George Washington? Visitors to Hartwell Tavern this weekend will have that opportunity!
In the summer of 1775, General George Washington, newly-appointed commander of the “Army of the United Colonies,” not only had to forge an army from men he gloomily described as “raw materials,” he had to do it while besieging the British in Boston.
Minute Man National Historical Park, in partnership with The 10th Massachusetts Reg’t, The Ladies of Refined Taste, and The Authentic New England Campaigners, is pleased to present this living history event focusing on the summer of 1775, the Siege of Boston, when Americans were grappling with the realities of war and the fate of the young nation hung in the balance.
This event takes place at Hartwell Tavern, Lincoln, MA
Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28
9:30 am and 5:00 pm each day.
